Földrengés után járványveszély Nepálban

Több mint egy hete, múlt szombaton 7,9 erősségű földrengés volt Nepálban. Hétezren meghaltak, tizennégyezren megsérültek.
Eddig ötvenhét külföldiről tudjuk, hogy meghalt, százkilencet eltűntként tartanak nyilván.
A fővárosban Katmanduban és környékén már kezd normalizálódni az élet: csökkent a kórházak terheltsége. A sérültek ellátásába ötven külföldi orvos segített be, az izraeli hadsereg mobilkórházat vitt a helyszínre.
A nepáli belügyminiszter felszólította a külföldi mentőcsapatokat, hogy a túlélőkért folytatott kutatást lezárják, vagy térjenek haza, vagy utazzanak vidékre, hogy ott segítsenek. Összesen 34 ország 4050 önkéntese dolgozott Nepálban.
Továbbra is súlyos a helyzet vidéken, főleg a kínai határ mellett. Több utat még mindig nem tudtak megtisztítani, így az áram-és vízhiány mellett élelmiszerhiány is sújtja a kis településeket.
A szabadban heverő holttestek, állati tetemek és a tiszta vízhiánya miatt a WHO kolerajárványtól tart.
Vasárnap szállt le az amerikai légierő C-17-es szállítógépe, ami négy helikoptert vitt. Ezekkel hétfőtől mentőcsapatokat és segélyszállítmányokat juttatnak el a nehezen megközelíthető településekre.
A Mount Everesten, Langtang falu mellett száz túrázó és helyi holttestét találták meg hétfőn.
Az ENSZ szerint 2,8 millió embernek kellett elhagyni lakóhelyét, mert a háza összedőlt, vagy megsérült. Tízezrek éjszakáznak ideiglenes sátortáborokban.
